In this era of rapid technological changes in the global arena, striving for attainment of excellence is a continuous process. International Medical College, established in the year 2000 to meet the aspirations of the students for quality and standard medical education has, by the philanthropic efforts and generous support of promoters of International Medicare Limited and other stakeholders, is going to step in twelfth year of its successful operation and this year we are going to prepare ourselves for the 13th intake of students for MBBS Course.

During the past years we had to mainly concentrate on development of various physical facilities for the College, enhance academic framework and programs. Now the College has exclusive hostel accommodation for boys and girls students, finest faculty members with extensive teaching experience and scholastic knowledge and aptitude, library and laboratory facilities, enriched R&D center for extensive research etc.

The College now owns a healthy and congenial academic atmosphere for the students as well as for the faculty members. Various facilities have also been created for the development of extra-curricular activities of the students for their entertainment and also to develop their latent faculties. To give a scenic and panoramic view of the College campus, a Garden Lake has been excavated within the campus. Well furnished accommodation for the visiting guests and guardians of the students of the College are also under the process of development.

For the last few years we have also been trying to establish relationship with international bodies for transforming our College into a College of international standard. With that end in view we signed an Agreement with Kean University, New Jersey, USA for exploring academic cooperation for exchanging students and faculties, engaging in joint research projects, fostering the exchange of academic publications and information and promoting other academic activities for students such as intensive language training, summer camps and institutes, international collaborative degrees and certificate programs.

Under the Agreement signed between International Medical College and Kean University, a joint certification courses on English as a Second Language (ESL) is going to be started in Dhaka hopefully, with effect from January 2012. Kean University is going to depute a Faculty from USA for developing the curriculum and mentoring the students to be participated in the course.

For running the course, lecture theaters, well equipped class rooms, library, computer laboratories, self study rooms etc. are being developed. Apart from the College campus center at Tongi, an off -campus training center at a suitable location at Uttara, Dhaka with same facilities are also being developed for facilitating students residing in Dhaka.

Kean University (KU), NJ, USA has also agreed to help develop the B.Sc Nursing Unit of International Medical College (IMC). Our B.Sc Nursing students are at the stage of sitting for their final examination. Due to lack of proficiency in English language, our qualified nurses face problem in finding jobs abroad although tremendous job opportunities exist for Bangladeshi qualified nurses abroad including in USA. Considering the above, with the help of Kean University, USA we have taken initiative to prepare our qualified nurses so that they can sit for CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools) examination, which is a pre requisite for qualified nurses willing to practice as registered nurse in the USA. Kean University also agreed to help prepare Bangladeshi nurses willing to pass the NCLEX examination conducted by National Council of State Board of Nursing, USA that measures the competencies to work as Registered Nurse in foreign countries. IMC and KU have jointly taken the initiative to conduct the above courses at IMC as well as at the off-campus center at Uttara, Dhaka. Preparatory works for the purpose are on progress.

Apart from the above we are also going to start a Medical Assistant Training School (MATS) and a Paramedic Training Centre within our campus, hopefully from the start of the next calendar year.

With these multi faceted academic programs being conducted by International Medical College (IMC) , we understand IMC is the leading Medical College of the country and hence, we hope students will choose IMC as their best option for pursuing MBBS as well as B.Sc Nursing course of studies and will make the best use of the facilities and opportunities being provided by IMC to the students getting admitted in IMC.
